What This Badge Represents

This badge certifies that you can independently deliver a complete Data Product in DataOS. You have moved beyond conceptual understanding into applied execution - connecting to source systems, building governed pipelines, publishing products to the Data Product Hub, and making them accessible to consumers through a semantic model and a version-controlled deployment workflow.

Competencies Demonstrated

• Source Connection & Ingestion: You can establish secure, governed connections to diverse data sources using DataOS Depots, preview source metadata, tag sensitive fields at the point of ingestion, and handle credentials without exposing them in pipeline definitions.

• Pipeline Orchestration & Automation: You can build reliable, automated ingestion pipelines using DataOS Workflows; applying transformation logic, configuring error handling and recovery mechanisms, and following idempotency best practices to ensure pipelines can be safely rerun.

• Data Quality & Governance: You can embed quality checks, covering completeness, validity, and freshness, directly into pipelines. You can apply governance policies, enforce data classifications, and generate lineage graphs that make every data movement traceable and auditable.

• Observability & Monitoring: You can configure monitoring dashboards, set SLA thresholds, and define alerting rules that surface pipeline failures and data quality degradation before they reach consumers.

• Publishing a Source-Aligned Data Product: You can package a governed dataset as a Source-Aligned Data Product (SADP) - authoring the Data Product Specification, registering complete metadata, and validating discoverability in the Data Product Hub.

• Semantic Modeling with Lens: You can build and deploy a Lens semantic model that translates physical data into business-friendly metrics, entities, and relationships - making governed data accessible to non-technical consumers without exposing underlying complexity.

• Consumer-Aligned Data Product Deployment: You can deploy a Consumer-Aligned Data Product through a version-controlled Git workflow - structuring the repository correctly, configuring repository secrets, and validating the published product against its semantic model in the Hub.

• Access Control & Security: You can apply role-based and attribute-based access policies to Data Products, configure PII masking, validate access control behavior, and review audit logs for compliance verification.
