This training centers on validated approaches aimed at enrolling and supporting students from challenging-to-reach populations. These encompass students who have traditionally been underrepresented in higher education, individuals with disabilities, homeless and foster care youth, and other disconnected students.

The innovative techniques and methodologies shared in this training possess universal relevance across all student categories.

Acquired Skills / Knowledge

Federal Compliance: Expertise in McKinney-Vento foster care legislation and ADA/504 regulations to ensure program legal alignment

Strategic Outreach: Mastery of Community Asset Mapping and partnerships with social services to reach disconnected youth

Trauma-Informed Care: Ability to implement wraparound support and "Psychological First Aid" to address student trauma and basic needs (food/housing)

Inclusive Design: Skill in creating flexible program models that accommodate students with non-traditional schedules or learning barriers

Data & Accountability: Proficiency in documenting "hard-to-reach" service metrics for the Annual Performance Report (APR).

Earning Criteria

The recipient engaged in three days of in-person or virtual training sessions. Upon completion, they will be eqipped with incorporating specific goals and objectives aimed at improving program outcomes as it relates to serving TRIO students belonging to Hard to Reach Populations.
